Jaguars Open Jamal Agnew's Window to Return
USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed wide receiver/returner Jamal Agnew on the designated to return from injured reserve list, opening his 21-day practice window to return the field.

“Yeah, I think this would be the week that if we can activate his window, we might do that later in the week. We’ll see where he’s at health wise. He’s feeling good, so hopefully by Wednesday we can make that decision," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said on Monday.

Agnew was originally placed on the Reserve/Injured list on November 18, 2023.

Agnew has appeared in eight games this season (Week 1-3, 5-9) where he recorded nine receptions for 90 yards, 11 punt returns for 117 yards and seven kickoff returns for 194 yards.

Agnew was originally drafted by Detroit in the fifth round (165th overall) of the 2017 Draft before signing with Jacksonville as an unrestricted free agent in March 2021.

Agnew has been replaced in the last month in the return game by sixth-round rookie Parker Washington, though the consistency in the return game has expectedly waned since Agnew's injury.

“Yeah, it’s a big role, big shoes to fill. Jamal [Agnew] is obviously a tremendous returner in the kicking game," Pederson said on Monday.

"For Parker, that’s a big opportunity. He’s done well on some of the returns, obviously the Cincinnati game he put the ball on the ground on a punt return, and again yesterday, same thing. Those are the things as a young player, he has to understand. Chad [Wide Receivers Coach Chad Hall] does a good job of communicating and talking with him and making sure that he understands his role. It’s a great opportunity for him, obviously we have a lot of confidence as a staff in him. But big shoes to fill with those two jobs.”
